When I was a boy in the 1950's, one of the big treats was to go downtown to Woolworth's sit at the lunch counter and order lunch.
Check out these prices:
A fantastic baked ham sandwich for 40 cents.
A 3-scoop banana split for 39 cents.
A king-size coke for 10 cents.
In 2009, 50 years later, that meal costs about $12 at a delicatessen, and more at a sit-down restaurant.
Those were the good old days, eh?

Take me back to the 50s! Please!
Try to remember, though, the wages were alot lower then too!!! Too bad we can't have those prices now. I remember babysitting for .25/hour in the late '50's!!!
